HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT

IPL hair removal works by sending concentrated light through the pigment in the hair. The light converts to heat and destroys the hair follicles at the root so new hairs are unable to grow.

Results can be noticed after just the first few sessions, with a reduction in hair re-growth in the area treated. Remaining hairs are likely to be finer and lighter. 

We recommend 6-10 sessions for best results, 4-6 weeks apart however this is dependant on the individuals hair growth. Our IPL can also effectively treat Hirsutism.

  • PREPARING FOR CONSULTATION & TREATMENT

    You will initially book for in for a consultation and patch test, ensure that the hairs are visible on the day of your consultation as this determines your hair type. Before treatment:


    - Avoid sun-beds / sun exposure and fake tan 4 weeks prior to treatment. 


    - Shave the area which is going to be treated at least 12 hours prior to treatment, don’t wax, pluck or thread the area.


    - Avoid using lotions / moisturisers on the area being treated on the day of treatment. 

  • HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

    We recommend eight to twelve sessions for best results, four weeks apart. For maintenance, we recommend one to two sessions every twelve months.

  • WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

    Results can be noticed as soon as the first few sessions, the hair will naturally start to drop out of the follicle, resulting in a reduction in hair re-growth in the area treated.

  • WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME?

    There is minimal downtime with this treatment, some patients may experience slight reddening of the skin and some sensitivity.

  • WOULD I BE SUITABLE FOR TREATMENT?

    The hair must be darker than the skin therefore this treatment wouldn’t be effective on patients with very light hair. Our machine is suitable for Fitzpatrick skin types 1-3

  • DOES IT HURT?

    The use of IPL means that the treatment is comfortable to have. Some more intimate areas may feel more sensitive. 


  • HOW DO I GO ABOUT BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT?

    A consultation and patch test will determine your suitability before we book an appointment.
